About Us

Chair: Kerry Watson, National Galleries of Scotland
Secretary: Bobbie Winter-Burke, Glasgow School of Art

The Scottish Visual Arts Group was established in 1994 to represent librarians and information providers from visual arts libraries, museums, galleries and other institutions in Scotland. We are an affiliated group of SCURL, the Scottish Confederation of University and Research Libraries, and also report to the National Co-Ordination of Art Resources Committee of ARLIS UK & Ireland.

We are committed to the dissemination of art information and the exchange of ideas, and primarily act as a forum for professional sharing and support with a strong practical emphasis.

We aim to:

  • maximise opportunities for co-operation across Scottish art libraries and archives
  • promote collections and services
  • lobby on issues with relevance to art and design information
  • heighten awareness of visual arts documentation
  • link activities to local and UK-wide initiatives
